The dreaded missed call

I've always had a little difficulty remembering to keep my cell phone with me and answering my phone at all times. I just didn't think about it then, but I must say I have drastically improved since my husband left and now normally pay close attention to it.
However, I think anyone going through a deployment probably knows the feeling all too well...the devastating knot in your stomach after missing a call from overseas. It has happened to me a few times so far, most of which have been in the middle of the night. But the times that really hurt are the calls that you could have answered if for example, you had remembered to take the phone with you to put out the garbage or kept your ears open while taking a shower. Those are the missed calls that leave me standing there screaming to my phone "NOOO! Call Back! Call Back!" Especially when it's been a few days since I'd heard anything. It's not like we can just press redial and call back, although at times I contemplate trying.
Yea… that happened to me this morning. The rest of the day I was left hoping there was a chance he would call back.  Normally if he calls it is later in the day, so I wasn't expecting it this time. I guess I'll be attaching my phone to my hip from now on.  Or I heard some gals stick it in their bra...though probably very uncomfortable, it would definitely eliminate missed calls.  Oh the things we do for love. :)

Hahaha. I know that feeling. I actually tried to "redial" the overseas military number but of course it said it wasn't available ;) Grrr.

That is the worst... and I have totally called back - even thought I know it wouldn't work. :( I usually compensate with a piece of chocolate and a please, please, please call back whispered to my phone - an inanimate object.
